2007 Torre Quarto Uva di Troia Bottaccia – Episode 170

By Patrick

Here is a great value wine from Puglia made from an interesting grape Uva di Troia – This is a nice example of what is happening in Southern Italy. This wine is much more on the new world styled but retains a little of that old world funk. Have served this to several people and all have been happy with it. No one would guess this is a $10 bottle

I've seen your wine stash on the web. How about breaking out one of the Big Boys for us?
I just bought my plane tickets to NYC for the noob party. I better see you there! I've got a room at the RS so we can get together after hours!

another good show, thanks.

so true…many deals to be had for the adventurous tasters who look to southern Italy. After many years of producing bulk wine that went north for blending, it is great to be able to find basic table wine gems in the rough. I'm glad given that the ancient Greeks referred to their colonies in the area as Oenotria, the land of wine.
I'm also partial, as my mom's side of the family hails from Calabria (nice Gaglioppo from Ciro) and Campania (delicious Aglianicos ). We also like Negoamaro based wines from Puglia.
Ciao!

a Wine Library purchase, no doubt. Maybe @kmurph can throw this up for free shipping on WL.

I do not know how I missed this comment- or did I- for some reason I wasn't sure you were going till we met at WL – anyway I had a great time and you are the main reason i made it to the NY party and Pete is the man! I agree

Burro,
Thanks for the information and I will def seek out some more of these wines from Puglia- I do not drink enough Aglianicos- Might have to change that for sure- Campania and Abruzzi produce the best cooks
